Students in 4th grade used fall colors and a crayon resist technique to create engaging fall abstractions.

Students in 1st grade selected various colors, shapes, and sizes of leaves to give their leaf rubbings an interesting composition.

6th grade Homework, assigned week of Sept 14-18, due following class

In sketchbook, students are to draw three objects, animals, or concepts that start with the letter "A".  Drawings must be developed and shaded in.  Students can put all three drawings on one page as long as each drawing has been carefully placed on page (i.e. not too small or forced off the page).

Upper School Sketchbook Inspiration


7th and 8th grade homework assigned week of Sept 14-18, due following class


Students are to complete at least three studies (focused drawings) of plants or leaves in their sketchbook.  Student may use three different plants or the same plant three times.

These studies should include:
a) a value study
b) a line drawing with emphasis on contour
c) a blind contour

8th grade research assignment

Students will select a visual artist of their choice and complete a 3-5 page paper discussing both the artist's life and work, as well as their interpretation of the work itself.  Papers are due in early December, date to be announced.  Students should begin to think about which artist they may want to research, their artist name is to be given to teacher by September 22, 2015.

6th, 7th, and 8th grade Homework Assigned Sept 8-11

* Students will need a sketchbook for this class, at least 8x10, and preferably spiral bound.  These will be required for homework and classwork assignments beginning the week of Sept 21, so please have sketchbook by then.  See me with any questions or concerns.


* Students will complete the vocabulary term list given in class, (and is also available as a link available under the "pages" list on the blog), due following class.
